The method of teaching by Notredam Sisters is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. In these, special emphasis is laid on building the character of the individual. This method of teaching has been highly respected and admired by various religious communities of Patna.
Hartmann Girls’ School is a Catholic institution. It was established on 8
January 1959. For the first several years, approximately eight years, the
school functioned only as a secondary school. However, in 1967, considering
the difficulties faced by the students, it was upgraded to a Higher
Secondary School.
The school is managed by the Notre Dame Sisters. The first bishop of this
diocese was Bishop Hartmann, and in his memory the institution was named
Hartmann School. It was established by the late Bishop Wildermuth with the
selfless support of the Notre Dame Sisters.
The Patna Diocese operates several other educational institutions as well,
which provide education through the mother tongue to young students coming
from various social groups, communities, and language backgrounds.
The school applied for government recognition in 1975. After continuous and
dedicated efforts, it received establishment approval in 1982 and later
obtained government recognition as an unaided institution in April 2005.
Subsequently, in 2007, the school also received government recognition for
the +2 (Higher Secondary) level.
